Nice, Clean Airport
Had a connection here a few times in the past. AMS is a nice, clean airport with friendly staff. Easy to navigate and it's full of conveniences, like shops, rest rooms and even a hotel inside.
The only issue is, this terminal/s is too big and it can take a while to get from one gate to the next and sometimes the gate changes a few minutes before the scheduled flight time. This can mean another 20 minutes or more walking or running to the other gate. If you do not speak English/French or German, this can be a nightmare and by the time you realize the gate changed, you missed your connection.

Sleeping And Shopping
I would consider Schiphol one of the best airports in the world. Apart from the efficiency as arrival/departing/transit airport it offers a large variety of shops for big and small money spenders. It's shopping centre is spacious and by using lots of glass windows offers a nice view to the apron. In case you stay overnight it gives you the possibility to sleep in the airport itself. The Airport Hotel in the non-Schengen Terminal offers a decent room for a reasonable price. It also has a sort of Spa, so you can relax as you wait for your next flight. You can reach even more luxurious hotels by foot within the airport. So compliments to Amsterdam

Schiphol
The airport has a hotel inside the terminal building and it is not expensive. Also in between KLM Crown Lounges on the first floor, one can find fantastic lounge chairs to relax and sleep a little. Schiphol truly is one of the best airports in the world.

Sleeping
Overall the Schiphol airport provides an excellent service. The problem I encountered was that it is designed so that there would be no possibility to sleep between connecting flights (for an economy class passenger)

Fantastic!
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is probably the best airport I've ever been to. Service is outstanding, public transportation and accessibility is also fantastic. Lots to eat, drink and shop for. Thumbs up!
