Birmingham Airport Uk
Best UK Airport!
I will travel half way across England to fly from Birmingham, passing Bristol airport along the way. The airport is self is well-managed, has excellent flight selection for what is a smallish airport and is extremely well served by road and rail transport.
Overall Quality
Great airport. I was there in July. The only comments I have is there is no covered walkway from the car park to the departure terminal. I got wet walking to it. Check-in for the flight was very slow and cramped. I was on an international flight to Canada. The staff were very sociable and friendly. I liked that. The departure lounge is good with pleasant eateries and space to wait for your flight.
BHX Airport
Excellent service: neatly maintained, helpful ground staff, overall good..
It’s my local airport and only eleven miles from where I live. My Canadian partner uses the airport on a regular basis, and apart from getting one very rude and downright offensive customs lady who seemed to relish in her powerful roll, the airport is easy to get around, it’s clean and so are the toilets/washrooms, with cleaners always on the go. It’s costly to buy stuff but that’s the case at most airports. There’s plenty of parking but leave yourself enough time to park as you can spend well over thirty minutes looking for a space. Parking is not cheap and due to heightened security they no longer have a passenger drop off zone at the terminal, which is a pain and means you have to go and park and then pay for parking. I used the airport myself to fly to Frankfurt with Lufthansa, and also flew back to it, and have to say it’s easy and straightforward. I cleared the massive passport patrol queue on my return because they have introduced self service customs booths that should you have a newer biometric passport like mine, then it was a breeze and save me standing in a queue and I was done and clear in a couple of minutes. There is plenty of food and drink outlets in the main airport area and in the flight lounge, although I have only ever purchased water from them. Overhaul it’s easy and convenient for me and a nice airport, however if I fly from here to Canada then I have to use three flights to get there, but should I use LHR London Heathrow, then I can fly direct and for less money, but would have to face the car ride to London, but the money saved would maybe make it all wort the hassle. I also think £2 none returnable for a luggage cart is a bit nasty.
