Narita International Airport in based 4 miles (7 km) southeast of the city of Narita’s Railway Station in Chiba, Japan and it is the main airport serving the Greater Tokyo Area of Japan.
Narita Airport is responsible for the preponderant number of international passenger numbers to and from Japan with over 35 millions passenger travelling through their airport every year, this also makes it the second busiest airport in Japan. It is however Japan’s busiest airport with respect to cargo or freight transported, and the ninth busiest worldwide.

I hope that some other airport is like narita… A very convenient airport…
Narita
Compared with other Asian airports the facilities at tired and depressing Narita are appalling. After checking in, try finding a decent restaurant or bar to relax before your flight. There aren’t any! Considering Narita is the main Japanese airport, it pales in comparison with the superb facilities at Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, even the far superior Kansai Airport. Narita is NOT a world-class airport and it is in dire need of a overhaul.
Airport Trains Are Full
I have arrived twice to Narita and both times have been good experiences. Upon departure however, both times have offered some trouble. The first time I boarded the slow train to Narita, stopping at EVERY station. I eventually got off and took a taxi instead, but traffic jams made me miss the plane anyway. At the airport they helped me reserve a hotel for the night, Narita rest house which was just walking distance from the departure hall. They also gave me a phone number to the airline (KLM) where I could rebook my flight. The second time I made sure to take an early train and also the correct train, directly to the airport. The train was fully booked however, so there were no seats available. Also the train stopped for about an hour due to someone had been seen walking on the tracks. Finally arriving at the airport the plane was delayed anyway, so I didn’t miss it this time.
Best Of The Best
I have flown to and through many different airports. None even come close to NRT. All airlines are in two groups, making it extremely easy to find the airline as well as walk from one to another. A traveller can get there for an international flight 1 hour before the flight departs, check-in and still have time to grab some food. Customer service at EVERY airline counter is excellent, the airport is well kept, the signs are easy to read/understand. Security is easy and fast. The fully automated baggage system is the most accurate, fastest baggage system in the world, and has a baggage misplacement/loss rate lower than any other large airport in the world. Immigration is fast and easy. Transportation from the airport is plentiful. There are multiple trains, buses, taxis, etc. to get pretty much anywhere in Japan. There is a large food court/shopping area before passing through security. There is food and shopping after passing through security as well. The baggage carts are free and easy to use…Next time you go to NRT, take a little time to walk through.
Great Airport
NRT is an excellent airport. I had a couple of 2 hour layovers there and was very comfortable. They have lounge chairs to rest in, plenty of shops to browse, and the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in my life!
Narita Airports is Clean and has lots of positive stuff but the only negative thing is that the airport is a bit old. Overall narita is 4 star airport
