Tullamarine International Airport or Melbourne Airport, as it is also often known, is the 50th busiest airport in the World with almost 29.5 million passengers flying through the airport to 33 direct destinations (data from 2012). Melbourne Airport is located about 13 miles (22 km) north of Melbourne’s city centre.
Back in 2003, Melbourne Airport was awarded the IATA Eagle Award as well as a couple of National Tourism Awards. more recently Melbourne has also received multiple awards for the best airport hotel. The airport was ranked 43rd best overall airport by Skytrax for 2012.
The Queen Victoria Market is a must see for all visitors to Melbourne. It is a massive open market which has been trading for more than 125 years and now has 600+ traders all selling their wares. Melbourne Cricket Ground and Flinders Street Station, Melbourne’s first railway station which was contrusted in 1854, can also both provide a memorable experience for all Melbourne tourists.

Car Parking
Recently introduced is a free of charge area for people waiting to collect passengers. Called "wait and call" people are allowed ten minutes free parking in order for arriving passengers to call them once they have cleared customs and baggage collection. This saves on paying the relatively expensive $5 per hour fees.
Expensive
Melbourne Airport short term parking is expensive, suggest preplanning pick up. Or grab the SKYBUS for $17AUD oneway to the city. Domestic airport is pretty good considering the small bar (Although $10 for a pint of Carlton Daught is expensive). Otherwise clean and well functioning airport.
Tullamarine
Car parking for short term is very expensive, much better if you can use the airport buses. The long term car park however can be good value. Just one food and drink outlet, and 4 other retail outlets once you have cleared Customs and Immigration, the food outlet is very expensive. There are, however, a number of retail outlets prior to going through the departure area
Tullamarine Airport is a rarity. International is a very direct short walk from Domestic so there is no transfer problems. I can’t believe the prices for parking and taxi transfer to the city is very expensive. I now take the Skybus which is comfortable and convenient and if you are in a city based hotel they will take you there. Their depot is at Southern Cross Station beneath the retail area.
