This is a very fine airport and provides a good security to tourists.

Awful Delays!
I have flown into LAX a number of times over the last 30 odd years. Generally not too bad - but my last visit - Sept 2007 - was DREADFUL! Worst problem was immigration which, even on a weekday evening was a TOTAL MESS. Had to wait for over 2.25 hours to get through - not because of any problem with my admission, but just because of bad organisation. Also as a Brit - a trusted ally - I resent being treated like a criminal and made to give fingerprints, photo, etc, before I could enter. Americans would go crazy if asked to do that to get into Britain, I am sure!
Avoid LAX if you can!

Horrible
I lived in LA for 15 years and avoided LAX at all possible if I could. I moved to Houston 9 years ago and I went back to LA for the first time in 5 years and the airport still looks the same as it did before. Only difference is that they added huge letters to the Century Blvd entrance and that's basically it. It's old and gritty and reminds me of a warehouse. Try Long Beach, Ontario or Burbank if you can.

Embarrassment To The USA
For the past 3 years I have been flying internationally into and out of LAX. I am not a US citizen but if I were I would be embarrassed that the first impression of my country was LAX. I have flown all over the world and apart from a few airports in West Africa I can safely say this is the worst airport I have been in.

Horrible Airport
My husband and I went to attend the wedding of some dear friends of ours in Santa Barbara, CA. We were also celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. So we decided to fly into LAX and drive down the coast to Santa Barbara. I must say, that of all of the airports I have been in (both domestic and international), LAX has to be the WORST. It's dirty, extremely disorganized, and not what one would call an "up-to-date" style airport. Furthermore, the people are RUDE. I've never been in an airport where the airline employees were so nasty. Not only were the airline employees nasty, but so were the employees of HERTZ Rent-A-Car. As much as I love LA, Santa Barbara, and Santa Monica, I will NOT fly into LAX again. One would think that for an airport that caters to both domestic and international air traffic - plans would be made to expand and update it to make it more appealing to travelers. If any plans are ever made to expand/update LAX...on item airport personnel might want to consider is to hire friendlier/more accommodating employees.
