Gone Too Far
For one the security thing is a total invasion of privacy. It's disgusting and I get checking shoes and doing a light pat but if they can see through your clothes. Why can't they have a machine to look through your luggage without touching your personal items. It's gross take the precautions where terrorists aren't an issue but make sure not to invade others' privacy. For example, do you really need to search a five year old or a pregnant woman?

Dreadful
LA is a very bad airport to be flying into, especially from overseas. Its security levels are way way too high. Don't get me wrong LA is one of the best built airports in the world but it's got to take it easy on security and work harder on getting planes and passengers in and out of the airport in time. LA scrapes in at 2 stars for me.

Awful Delays!
I have flown into LAX a number of times over the last 30 odd years. Generally not too bad - but my last visit - Sept 2007 - was DREADFUL! Worst problem was immigration which, even on a weekday evening was a TOTAL MESS. Had to wait for over 2.25 hours to get through - not because of any problem with my admission, but just because of bad organisation. Also as a Brit - a trusted ally - I resent being treated like a criminal and made to give fingerprints, photo, etc, before I could enter. Americans would go crazy if asked to do that to get into Britain, I am sure!
Avoid LAX if you can!

Horrible
I lived in LA for 15 years and avoided LAX at all possible if I could. I moved to Houston 9 years ago and I went back to LA for the first time in 5 years and the airport still looks the same as it did before. Only difference is that they added huge letters to the Century Blvd entrance and that's basically it. It's old and gritty and reminds me of a warehouse. Try Long Beach, Ontario or Burbank if you can.
