El Salvador International Airport Reviews (8)
Worst airport ever. Do yourself a favor and avoid it at all cost. This airport doesn’t even have scanners for luggage so they have people go through your stuff MANUALLY and they use that search as an excuse to pocket some of the items in your bag. I wonder who are the people posting the reviews above because; none of the positive comments are true. This is not a modern airport; staff is not courteous and facilities are among the worst I’ve ever seen.
Old Airport New Airline
The Airport facility is actually very functional (except for customs) and it’s very large for the region, it is easy to get around, and the people who work there are just really nice and humble, the only thing is that the airport looks old, or not modern enough for the amount of people it is receiving. That’s another thing; the airport needs an expansion because it has reached its maximum capacity, it’s always full, any business trip I take to Peru, to Florida, to Argentina, anytime I’ve been in the airport it’s always too busy. I always fly with TACA, the Salvadoran airline, it is very modern clean, great staff, and all the planes are new, they have no more than 4 years and other airlines, like American bring planes that have been probably used for 10 years. Overall the airport and its airline are great.
Layover And Hungry??
The El Salvador (SAL) International was such a great experience. The people are friendly!!! There is a particular restaurant at the airport everyone should not miss. The name of the Restaurant is Tapacun Specialty Coffee House. Wow they have the best sandwiches ever, and the coffee is to die for…. I got to purchase coffee to take home with me by the pound!! Probably the best coffee I have ever tried. The decor of the restaurant is that of an English Pub, it is a restaurant, full bar and coffee house. The staff of the restaurant is so friendly and helpful….. I had a long layover Flying TACA from Guatemala to Wahington D.C. I found myself walking through the gates with spectacular choices of stores for shopping. There were plenty of choices to eat but it all seemed plain and as usual not healthy at all. My experience at this airport was an excellent one and if anyone who reads this is ever at the airport you must visit Tapacun Specialty Coffee House, you will not be sorry!!!
Airport Experience
The staff at the airport were among the best I’ve ever dealt with. Everyone was extremely friendly to us and made our experience a very positive one. Canadian airport staff could learn a few manners from staff here.
Excellent Services
I really felt employees and people in SAL try to make you feel like home. Excellent services, this is one of the best airports I’ve seen service-wise.
General
I was recently in El Salvador, 11/12/09, and I was very satisfied with the airport facilities. It was a brisk going through Immigration and Custom. Leaving the airport was also very satisfactory. Quick check-in at the airline counter, fast and very detailed check passing security, and no problem getting to my gate. The airlines, TACA, had a very fast boarding, not crowded, the in-flight service perfect, departing SAL and arriving at IAD on time. I had traveled to Panama, COPA, Guatemala, many countries in South America and Europe as well as domestic in the USA, but I have to give credit where credit deserves: SAL (Comalapa) has very good facilities, TACA has good service. Summarizing, TACA is a very good airline, SAL(Comalapa) better than ever. Some airports where I have been are just like warehouse. So, Mr Sandoval, update your traveling and see what you are missing. Rest my case.
Comments
The airport is OK but I rather prefer to fly to any American airport or Copa from Panama or direct from Guatemala city. The TACA SERVICE is really bad.
After 12 years in usa i have the opportunity visit mu country again, really impressed me, with the expansion made and the new atmosphere here,i have traveled to so many different places during my military service and this airport its overall very good and very nice people making their best efforts to make you feel safe and sound, (like at home)
