HNL International Airport
I travelled to HNL on 22nd Sept O8. Upon arrival it was OK, however after we cleared the gate we were then left waiting in a huge line for little shuttle buses to come pick us up from the footpath. We would have waited over 30 minutes! Finally after getting a bus we drove about 5 minutes to the main terminal where we went through immigration which was quite pleasant and friendly. We collected out bags and we were off. Upon departure, we got there with time to spare, about 3hrs prior, we didn’t have to wait to check in, however, there were issues with our tix and our seats were not put together (we were a travelling party of 7) so 30mins later we were finally off again. The departure terminal is huge, we were turned away from one lot of xray machines because there was a big line – there was about 10 people! The staff weren’t very friendly. After we passed security, we were into the terminal, we then were in duty free, and after that there were no windows and the planes were a stones throw away. Our Gate no joke took about 15mins to walk to! When we got there, you could have taken a shuttle… There are no food or drink places at the gate. there are 2 vending machines, and they weren’t working particularly well. Other than that… that was it.

What a beautiful airport- very open, airy and resembles that of the tropics.
I often travelled through the US and this airport is almost identical to all those of the American continent. But it is the gates of the Paradise. What lovely gates! The agents of airline companies are helpful and nice. Shops propose all that you forgot to buy on islands and the service of luggage is effective. Honolulu international airport deserves its 5 stars.
