Barcelona El Prat Airport is positioned 7.5 miles (12 km) southwest of central Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Although it is the main airport for Catalonia it is still only the second busiest in Spain, following Madrid. Recent years have seen a consistent growth in passenger numbers, now travelling over 35.1 million passengers per year to hundreds of destinations around the world. It is the only Spanish Airport to report an increase for 2012.
