Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport Destinations Map
Robin Hood Airport dates back to 1915, although back then it was called Finningley Airfield and served as base to the Royal Flying Corps. During the second World War and the Cold War it was used primarily for training purposes, in the 70’s and 80’s it was home to nuclear armed Vulcan Bombers.
The airport briefly opened as ‘Sheffield City Airport’ before being decommissioned in 1995, but after low-cost flights were introduced, along with rising passenger demand, the airport was reopened in 2005 under the name Robin Hood Airport (causing controversy due to its misleading location). You can fly to 40 European and 4 North American cities from Robin Hood Airport, including the likes of Vienna, Malaga, Corfu, Lanzarote and Chicago.
If you are catching an early flight from the airport, why not take a look at some Robin Hood Airport Hotels? The Robin Hood Airport Guide also list a number of reputable taxi and transfer companies should you require a lift to the airport.
