New Terminal At Wuhan
I have experienced both the old Terminal 1 and the new Terminal 2 at Tianhe. The new terminal is a world class level terminal, you could be anywhere in the world, which in itself is a compliment and a disappointment. The food in the airport is disappointing at best, and still expensive. The departure areas are clean and functional, and the coffee shops in the departure areas are welcoming. Shopping is very limited to just food delicacies or children's souvenirs. No problems with check-in or baggage controls all efficiently done.

Wuhan Tianhe Airport
I've been traveling through Tianhe Airport, Wuhan since 2000, and little has changed inside this compact airport since then. Seating in the waiting area is inadequate, the restaurants are expensive in Chinese terms as are the goods in the shops which can be bought elsewhere at a fraction of the cost and few of the staff speak English. However, I've never had to wait long for baggage, queuing time is usually minimal and boarding planes is painless. Tianhe translates roughly as 'heavenly river'.
