It is military airfield and therefore not open to the general public. It’s also now called Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Pt Mugu. The primary runway at the main base is 11,000 feet by 200 feet. The secondary runway is 5,500 feet by 200 feet.
Official name of airbase is NAWS Point Mugu, (Naval Air Warfare Station Point Mugu). NVBC is overlying command also encompassing the Naval Construction Battalion Center (Seabees) 6 miles away at Port of Hueneme. The California Air National Guard shares Point Mugu’s runways, but is not part of NBVC.
