Beautiful Airport
Personal Help
A small airport with just essential services. Car rentals seems to be the big business here – many rental counters. The airport and tourist authority staff are both friendly and helpful. My pre-arranged car with driver was a no-show. The staff made multiple telephone calls over a period of 1-1/2 hours to sort out the problem and get me on my way. Great service. With Mpumalanga International Airport just a few miles away, is this really an international airport?
Travel And Assistance
Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to visit the delightful Nelspruit Airport. It was one of the most beautiful airports I have seen. The service was remarkable, MUCH better than I experienced arriving from Australia to Johannesburg International (Oliver Tambo?) airport. Nelspruit Airport looks a thousand times better than Johannesburg International and the service was faultless. My hearing impaired elderly mother was flying from Nelspruit to Johannesburg, the plane she was due to catch was delayed by several hours and the lady at the booking in counter made arrangements to get my mother onto another flight, without us having to ask if there was another flight. I requested that my mother be assisted to and from the areoplane. The service was remarkable, the pleasant young lady from the booking in counter accompanied my mother to the plane and saw her safely aboard. She then reported back to us that all was well. Johannesburg International can take a few lessons from Nelspruit Airport.
I have had the privilege to fly into and back out again from Nelspruit’s beautiful airport, which looks more like a 5 star game lodge than an airport! The staff with whom I interacted were great, from the car hire, through Wimpy, to the airline staff were all very friendly and helpful. A great place to spend a few hours catching up work on the laptop before flying home! :)
