Uphill grass strip in a steep sided mountain valley in th Star Mountains of NW Papua. Probably the wettest place on Earth with annual rainfall in excess of 10 metres! Don’t go there unless you know exactly what you are doing. The strip was usually serviceable when I was flying out of Daru (1967 – 1968), but was under the watchful eyes of DCA at the time.
Best suited to single engine with some power, i.e. C-185, Pilatus Porter etc. Be careful!
