Lithuanian capital city Vilnius has been attracting much interest from both business and leisure travellers since Lithuania has gained its independence. Vilnius Old Town received the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 and covers an area of 351 ha with nearly 1,500 buildings.
Vilnius International Airport is conveniently situated on a plateau in the southern part of Vilnius. The first terminal was built in 1932 on the current site, and served the Warsaw-Vilnius-Riga-Tallinn route at the time. It is now a busy transport hub and the most important airport in Lithuania.
