Named after Captain John August Earl Bergstrom, who served for the 19th Bombardment Group, Austin–Bergstrom International Airport is located 5 miles southeast of Downtown Austin, the central business district of Austin, Texas.

The airport, which replaced Austin’s Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, opened to the public on May 1999 and served 9.4M passengers during 2012.
