Opened in 1927 as a private landing field, William P. Hobby Airport is the oldest commercial airport in Houston, and was the city’s primary airport until the opening of George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 1969.
On May 2012, the city council approved a deal to build a $100 million international facility at the airport that will start operating flights to South America in 2015. William P. Hobby Airport currently handles an average of 10M passengers everyday.
