Chicago Midway International Airport is located 8 miles to the South of Chicago and served almost 20M passengers and had around 250,000 flight operations in 2012.
Originally called Chicago Air Park, the airport was initially used for airmail services. In 1932, after a new passengers terminal was opened the year before, the airport was claimed to be the busiest in the world, having served more than 100,000 passengers on around 61,000 flights.
