Situated on a plateau 45 metres above and northeast of Hokitika township. The airfield is close to the sea on the West and the Hokitika River to the South. 40 kilometers north lies the small city of Greymouth. This airport has two asphalt runways longest of which is 1,374 metres long with a PCN rating of 20. The airport is served by Air New Zealand with 19 seat Beechcraft 1900D aircraft operating 12 flights per day. terminal facilities are spartan, but aviation fuel is available. The township below is home to 4,500 souls and the country to the south is some of the least populated, but most scenic territory in New Zealand.
