World airport guides take off. So does our blog!

We are nearing the end of 2013 and we have seen many changes to World Airport Codes throughout the year with the launch of the new design and today, the first ever blog for the site! We plan on using this blog to share some of the most interesting airport related news stories, statistics, travel news, stuff of aviation geeks and developments with World Airport Codes.

To launch this new blog we thought it would be a great time to announce our new guides. These guides are to help those who are new to an airport and want to locate places to stay in the surrounding airport area and find out how on earth to get to and from the airport. The guides cover local taxi information and reliable drivers, the best hotels on offer, where to park at the airport and all the details you could need about renting a car at your airport destination.

Let’s start with the taxi guides; we had a think about what you would need when you arrive at the airport and realised: surely the easiest and quickest way to get away from the airport was to get a taxi! Taking a closer look at the taxi industry we discovered it was a minefield to get your head around all of the taxi options available and rules for getting a taxi, especially in the USA. Because of this we thought we would take off with taxi guides in US destinations. We contacted the leading taxi companies in New York and Chicago and added them to our guide, along with some in depth advice on getting a taxi, what taxis you can book and pick up, the average prices for a taxi and how much you should tip.

For those who prefer to drive themselves around town rather than being chauffeured, we put together a guide for car hire as well – it is only available for Malaga at the moment as we wanted to make sure we had the best guide possible. We think we have done this, including info on where to get your car hire at the airport, who to book with and even some fantastic Spanish phrases for those who want to learn a spot of local lingo.

Hotel was the the obvious next guide as passengers often need a place to stay. We got our in house travel experts to find the nearest hotels for the locations Chicago O’Hare International Airport and New York City JFK airports. You can view a map on the guide for all hotels in the area along with top information for each one.

The final two guides we created were parking guides for Chicago O’Hare Airport and New York City JFK airport. These guides should help you familiarise and plan your parking before heading to the airport.
