Bunyan Airfield (also known as the Cooma Soaring Centre) is the home of the Canberra Gliding Club. The airfield is privately owned by the Club. Glider aircraft are launched by aerotow behind a power plane (Piper Pawnee) after which the gliders may range up to 60km. Gliders and the tug operating in the vicinity of the airfield communicate on the radio frequency 122.7MHz.
