Located in Entebbe, a small town on the shores of lake Victoria, (EBB) is a large regional airport providing commercial and freight access to Europe (LHR/AMS Non stop, BRU 1 stop Inbound/Non stop out bound). As well as the Middle East (DUB) Numerous other connections are available via Nairobi (NBO), a truly dreadful airport. Connections to other Ugandan & African Airports also.EBB is relatively modern however it is not air conditioned and windows in the departure lounges are left open to the mosquitoes off Lake Victoria making it something of a malaria hazard. Use of the air conditioned Karibuni business Lodge is advised for health and comfort. Security of your baggage may be a problem. All valuables and electronic gear should be carried in your hand luggage if possible or avail yourself of the shrink wrapping service available in the departure area after baggage X-Ray. Security screening is relatively painless and seems more thorough than most African airports (which isn't saying much). EBB is also a hub for the UN and numerous foreign military forces and is a plane spotters paradise. Lots of old & unusual aircraft including a variety of old soviet planes. Access to the Ugandan capital Kampala is available by Airport taxi for +/- 40,000 Uganda shillings (about 24$US) Under no circumstances get into an unmarked vehicle no matter how cheap the price quoted.!Sorry no buses. All in all a relative safe and painless way to get into east Africa. Avoid Kenya Air if you don't want to get hung up in Nairobi. Europe-bound flights are catered in Uganda and those with delicate stomachs are advised to eat before departure.
