It was the best of times and the worst of times. Go to RC135.com and read my story about two very special airplanes named "Rivet Ball" and "Rivet Amber" that operated from the remote island of Shemya, a.k.a. "The Rock", during the "Cold War" (circa 1966-69). Both aircraft suffered a tragic ending and 19 airmen were lost over the Bering Sea.
