Dangerous Airport
Dangerous Airport
The USS Sedona is a dangerous airport, landing here is difficult for pilots due to wind and terrain. The Sedona Airport is located atop a 500 foot high mesa overlooking the City of Sedona and US Forest Land. There have been 14 fatal crashes in Sedona since 1980, some occurring on the airport mesa or the adjacent mesa. Many pilots who cannot land here end up turning around and flying home, local pilots who get trapped in bad weather when coming home land at nearby airports.
