Worst Airport Anywhere
In the new terminal ("A"), the restrooms are small and clearly far from A.D.A. compliant. There are stalls for the handicapped, but people must walk in past users of the sinks to reach the toilets. It's a tight squeeze, especially if you're carrying any luggage. If you're in a wheelchair, I don't think you'll get it at all.
Want a rental car? You've got to get on a shuttle bus and travel around to the remote lots. Even with luggage it might be faster to walk there, if only there was a sidewalk.
Driving in or out is a nightmare, as the airport has been shoehorned in between two major highways and an arterial road, with a creek along one side limiting access via bridges. In retrospect, this airport should have been closed years ago and moved to the former naval air station at Moffett field.
Despite SFO's problems, I'd much rather fly through SFO and take its shuttle and CalTrain to and from San Jose. There's also OAK, which will get you to the BART trains, but they only go as far south as Fremont.
It's only fitting that, after the 9/11 attacks, San Jose named its airport after Norman Mineta, the secretary of transportation who was on duty that day. This airport is a disaster.
