About 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with a lung ailment that requires I use a CPAP machine and oxygen concentrator at night. I cannot walk long distances so I have an invisible disability I guess you would say. I now always ask for the special services when I order my tickets. I fly Delta in and out of Dane County Regional Airport frequently because I have family in Texas. I found the wheel chair service to be HORRIBLE, always coming back. The ticket agents take care of it going out but there is virtually no one available coming in. Sometimes if I come in before 9 PM, there will be one person. She had 3 handicapped individuals on my trip back in April so it took one hour to get my bags and try and get a cab. By the time I get to the cab there are none because they think everyone is taken care of. On May 15, I came in and the Delta ticket agent had to transport me so that took almost an hour too. I have PANIC ATTACKS every time I come back to Madison. A person named Rodney from Delta has been trying to "explain" this to me but I don't want an explanation. I WANT WHEEL CHAIR SERVICE WHICH IS ACTUALLY MANDATED UNDER THE AMERICAN FOR DISABILITIES ACT. I'm told the skycap leaves because there may be only one coming in after 9 and it costs too much to keep one there. I know they are grossly underpaid and if someone does not tip them it is frustrating. I have seen the one girl actually CRY because the situation is so bad. I want to know who is responsible for this service? The airlines, the airport administration? I have spoken with others since I now need this service and no one can believe Dane County is so irresponsible. I have lived in Dane County since 1962 and if it were not happening to me I would not believe it.
