Have just come back from Norwich after a two week stint on the gas rigs, so I saw a lot of NWI in those two weeks. It's a really small airport for being an international and really doesn't have the facilities required. Found the staff to be good, helpful and friendly. One thing that really irritated me was the £5 Airport Development Tax. The way they have done it, I don't even think is legal! I have heard of someone who argued against paying it at the gate and was allowed through without paying!

From the time you enter the doors at Norwich until you actually exit to board the Aircraft you get ripped off.On top of all the tax that you have to pay for your flight they charge you a extra 5 GBP to get to the departure lounge.The staff are rude to say the least their prices for duty free are ridiculously high compared to other airports.

I had a 0630 flight to Amsterdam so I contacted their information desk and asked what time I should arrive at the Airport I was told 2hr 30 mins prior to take off so I was there a 4 am all alone they turned up to check people in at 0545 when I complained they just look at you gone out typical Norfolk people strong in the arm weak in the head. Rubbish Airport avoid if you can - try Stansted - much better and a LOT cheaper.

NWI is a small airport, by International Airport standards. It has recently had an upgrade of passenger facilities and is now quite smart from previously dowdy. Smoking is NOT allowed anywhere within the terminal building - there isn't a smoking area either. Current security measures include having to remove ones shoes for the security people to see if your shoes have explosives built in - bloody demeaning for us elderly. Costs of food and drink are exhorbitant. Bring your own food, but you can't take drink through customs - I suspect a profit link twixt customs and the airport caterers. There is a £3 per passenger fee - it is stated to aid airport funds for future expansion!! - aren't they making enough from landing fees!!
