Would Get One More Star If I Could Transit Out!
As a transit pax and a non-rev traveling interline (not on my own carrier) I have to admit there are worse places to get bumped! The airport has lots of amenities...the UAE staff are pretty helpful and friendly (if you are respectful of local customs). We just had a hard time finding open flights. Remember for future that July is when schools get out in many other countries. If you are from the US, American schools finish up for summer vacation in May and June. We got caught in the post-school onslaught and haven't been able to get out of Dubai to head on to S. Africa. BUT...we've been loving the restaurants, (esp the Lebanese), the local shopping and Duty Free at the airport and more. The airport itself is clean, lots of access to amenities and food is better than most. Shopping isn't too expensive for Duty free, either! Beats getting stuck in lots of other places!

Excellent
I guess it is the most sophisticated airport across the globe, for security reasons the airport authority have started scanning on the visitors iris, popularly known as IRIS SCAN - which helps the government to eradicate people entering UAE with fake identity. I guess one should visit the DXB airport as it is full of amenities and well furnished with excellent staff. I really like the Dubai Duty Free shop, as it has fresh chocolates. On Arrival they have Marhaba Service which guides the pax with customs, luggage and then to their final destination in UAE. That's what I call excellent service .

The worst airport ever! Security? Forget it. My mate sent 6 beer cans through the handbaggage screening. No interest in PCs or other equipment at all. Then there is at least 1 hour check-in time and you walk two kilometers out to the gate. No visible organised transport between terminals. And when you get there and log for a beer and some food: McDonald's is the offering. Tax-free? Just the ordinary airport junk at stiff prices. Immigration control: I waited 42 minutes in the queue. What a nightmare!
