This is a very small regional airport on the outskirts of the industrial city of Zaporozhye. The airport only serves domestic flights with Kiev (KBP) being the main destination.
Upon arrival by car to the front of the airport you get a good impression with a small but very neat terminal building. However, it soon becomes obvious that this is just a administration block where tickets can be purchased and information gleaned. The actual terminal building is hidden behind and is just a large hut housing check in, customs and security, with wooden benches at the gate. This building is only occupied and open 30 minutes before each flight.
The large building also houses a very acceptable cafe that serves good value food and is the perfect place to wait prior to proceeding to the terminal.
As very few scheduled flights leave or arrive from this airport there are no holdups or problems negotiating the various security and document checks.
The low rating only reflects the terminal facilities and as a commuting airport for Kiev it is an ideal alternative to Dnepropetrovsk (DNK) which is around 80km away.
