A view from a helicopter

I have used this airport 5-6 times and I think the international terminal is very nice and usually not crowded at all. The tax-free is more than enough and before you enter the passport control you will find 2 cafes one in every corner of the terminal and on the upper floor you will find a small food court with Burger King and a kebab place, they also have nice and clean toilets everywhere. I really like this airport; the only thing I don't like is that sometimes the checking can take time if you need to drop a bag, but usually I travel light and print my boarding card before. Inside the passport control it's a little bit worse: you will only find a cafe there or there might be two, not 100% sure but also here there are more than enough toilets that are very clean! Overall, this is a nice airport, mainly because it's not old and they keep it clean and it's not very crowded, the domestic terminal can be more crowded but I can't say so much about it since mostly I just arrive there.

The Airport is basic but has all the facilities that are needed. I have found that the airport struggles to cope with large volumes of passengers as there have been cases of over-crowding and not enough seats in the terminal. The prices of food/drink are expensive too, although there is a small duty-free section where you could pick up a few bits. As I say the Airport is very basic, staff find it hard to speak English which is not very good. Overall, it's not a bad place but could do much better.

Izmir is the 3rd biggest city of Turkey. The Airport was built in the late 80's but in recent years the airport's capacity was not sufficient so the second runway and new terminal building have been built this year.
