Galcaio Airport
Galcaio airport is one of the oldest airports in Somalia. GLK serves central regions of Somalia. To the South GLK services up to Hiiraan region, and to the North East up to Garoowe. Also, travelers of Somali origin in the DDS (Ethiopia) use GLK as their connection to the world including during Hajj times. On March 26, 2012, then President of Somalia Sheikh Sharif Sh Ahmed renamed GLK airport to Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed Airport, in honor of late President AYA who was buried that day in an area not far from GLK airport.
