I was in transit from Abidjan to Dakar to Atlanta on Jan. 2, 2008. My flight was at 3:25 a.m. I went through 5 security checkpoints. The very last one was before we boarded the plane. Airport Security searched my backpack and as I was speaking with a friend who happened to be on the same flight, the guard slipped out my wallet. I didn't see it happen, but this was the only check point that hand checked my backpack. All the other security checks were through screening machines. I was stranded for 24 hours without any money, credit cards or drivers' license. I would definitely not recommend anybody ever go through Dakar. Interesting thing, as I walked out the doors to take the shuttle to the plane, the 4 security guards were looking at me laughing and talking. I guess they got a kick out of stealing my wallet when they are supposed to be providing security service to all people.

0n the 3/06/07 I was in transit in Dakar airport. My bag pack was stolen while I was in transit. The airport structure is quite bad since you have to walk out of the airport to get a connecting flight. Outside, you have to run pass 50 + locals who want to help with luggage. There is no security or police officers.

I recently had to switch flights at Yoff, and it was a truly horrible experience. NO ONE should ever fly here, avoid at all costs. Security is awful and corrupt. If you have to go outside beware of your bags being stolen off your back.

The Dakar Airport is very limited for international passengers.
The structure is bad.
The transit area does not have a working phone.
There is no clean bathroom. Toilet paper, forgot it!
There is a bad environment of corruption, inclusive for the workers of local AHS (Aviation Handling Services). All you need you must to pay in form of gratuity.
Arbitrariness is very common.
If you are not visiting Senegal, and are just an in-transit passenger, be strongly advised to avoid this airport, and if possible, consider another route!

This airport is professionally managed. Acceptable service.
