Visit To Lese In Early June 2011
I visited Lese airstrip early June 2011. It is 2.5kms along a poor track and through the centre of a village just before racing the runway. The runway is covered in grass up to my waist. I drove up and down 4 times to flatten a path and then drove from one end to the other at about 80kmh - smooth as a billiard table - there is some light tree growing on the runway at the northern end thus shortening it a bit. It is roughly 800m long according to my 4WD odometer. We are planning to open it up shortly for a test Twin otter landing once we have cut the grass for a small local project.
