Perhaps you should read the post more carefully before offering an arrogant and pedantic response like you did. In Mexico they confiscate liquids AT BOARDING, as Ms. Lee quite clearly stated, and there is absolutely no signage or warning that this will happen at any of the Mexican airports I have been to. Her complaint is justified, and despite that being "the way it is", unless you've previously been unpleasantly surprised by such confiscation in Mexico, then there's no good reason for a person to "know better". You not only sound rude, you are rude. Beyond that, you're apparently not a particularly thorough reader, which perhaps adds ignorance or carelessness to the list of your unpleasant attributes.

It is very well known that there are clearly defined limits on the liquids to be let through security zone in ANY airport in the world. MEX airport has posters indicating the max. limits of what is allowed on the check-in lines. It is your responsibility as a traveller/visitor to obey the laws and regulations of the country you are visiting. Sorry to sound rude, but feeling bad is no-one else's problem but the one who is actually sick. Airport controls the air/passenger traffic with the foremost priority and focus towards air-traffic security. The water is available at any shop after the check in, so I see no grounds to complain about water "unavailability" and consequent suffering. Any airline in the world would be glad to assist with a glass of water upon boarding, especially given your sickness. Also, re-selling the confiscated water? Common. Overall security is paramount comparing to a solo traveller issues like yours or mine for that matter.

US International Travelers - Beware 2nd Security Search/Water Scam
My family and I returned to the US from Mexico City yesterday. I was fairly ill (vomiting/diarrhea) and was fighting dehydration. I needed to sip liquids a little at a time to keep from vomiting or dehydrating. After passing through security, we purchased several bottles of water (at airport prices) to take with us on the plane. Unfortunately, they were confiscated without warning as we tried to board the plane. The lady at security actually smirked at me as she tossed the unopened bottles of water into a bin filled with them. They told me I was welcome to drink it all right there and ignored me when I tried to tell them that I would throw up if I did. I watched as the family after us had the same thing happen to them. Due to air turbulence, it was several HOURS before I was able to get something to drink, and as a result I was much sicker than I had been before. I don't object to REASONABLE security precautions, but I resent being treated like a criminal and being scammed by an airport - I don't think anyone is gullible enough to believe those unopened bottles of water are destroyed. They're probably taken home by security personnel or even resold to the next unsuspecting traveler! This policy is inhumane and a health hazard even for healthy travelers. For me, it caused a great deal of unnecessary suffering. I will think long and hard before I ever return to Mexico.

Terminal 2 Is The Choice
I fly through AICM almost every week. Terminal 2 (Continental, Delta) is WAY nicer than the cramped, smelly Terminal 1. The one aspect I can never figure out is "security policy of the day" at the airport. There's always something different going on with security there. One day I'll be told "one tray per person!". Another day I'll be told "one laptop per tray". Another day they're OK with water bottles. Another day they're not. One day they want liquids/gels out and on display. Another day they don't care. Sometimes my bags are searched. Sometimes they're not. Sometimes everyone is patted-down. Sometimes nobody is patted-down. Most haphazard security I've ever encountered. Expect the worst and you'll come out feeling lucky.

Good Airport
Mexico City Airport, often known as AICM, is a nice airport. It's divided in two terminals, and you can get between them by an inside monorail (you need to have boarding pass to use it), there are also buses running between T1 and T2. If you are flying in a domestic flight on weekdays in the early morning (6-8 am) the check in counters can get a little bit crowded so is better to get there with a little extra time so you are not in a rush. Getting there from Mexico City downtown takes more or less 40 minutes, it depends on traffic, some days (especially Fridays) between 18:00 and 20:00hrs it can be a lot of more time to get there by car. AICM is also served by subway, so you just need to leave the subway at the "Terminal Area" station and it leaves you exactly in Terminal 1 of the airport, the subway is the easiest and cheapest way to get in and out of the airport to almost any point of the city, and it costs only 2 Mexican pesos and is really fast.
