First, remember where you are. Our driver, John, was hesitant to go to the airport because it was in a dangerous area. This was in July 2007 (political violence began in 2008). It was a good 4 hour drive from Lodwar on very poor potholed roads according to him, though our information was a 2 hour drive. Second, there is no guarantee that the charter airline/airplane will operate; but you must purchase tickets in advance, which means a trip to the airport. Third, the charter airline lands in the secondary airport in Nairobi and not at the international one, where most Westerners make connections. The Nairobi airports and not close, so you must allow for transit time, availability of taxis, etc.
