Uralsk Airport
I visited the airport following an emergency landing of my British Airways flight. We were allowed into the small departure lounge for a short period. Facilities are clean if a little basic. There is a small refreshment counter which also sold a selection of local souvenirs.

The officials on duty were reminiscent of the old Soviet era treating us with some suspicion and we were strictly supervised. There appeared to be little traffic through the airport.

We were there throughout daylight hours and I only witnessed two landings and one takeoff.

Runway was only just long enough to allow our 747 to land and could only be used for such a large plane in an emergency. No photograph is available as we warned that photography was strictly prohibited.
