Arrivals and departures are by bus to the plane. Do not expect a first class experience, but it is getting better. Arrivals have to wait in the main building for the baggage to arrive. It does after about a 30 minute wait. The baggage is checked against your tags so don't lose them! The departure lounge has just been revamped and is gleaming and new. When I was there there were not enough seats. There is an exchange place, magazine stand and a small restaurant with a limited range of snacks- good selection of Vodka though! S7 and Air Astana have offices and the Air Astana people were very nice and helpful. The staff generally were helpful although with very limited English. The nice Air Astana people will help with translation. The toilets were awful, don't expect doors or sit down toilets, the only ones available were Arab type ones. Yuck! I suspect they are due to be redone soonish. Say in the next 2-5 years.
