All air travel within Guyana requires a passport. You have to register at the small building on the left at the end of the road coming over the bridge (airport on the right). They want to see your passport, and will ask your occupation, destination (including address and Georgetown address) and occassionally why you are travelling there. You then go back towards the bridge (20m) and turn left past the guard post to the terminal to be weighed with your bags (end of that road on the left). The terminal is between the guard post and the weighing station and is impossible to miss. The waiting room has two parts, the first is an open room, past that is a glass enclosed room that is air-conditioned. You go through the air-conditioned room to the runway when your flight is ready.

When you land at the airport you go to the right to the small building where you checked in when you flew out. You do not go through the terminal but rather pass in front of it. Remember to carry all your bags with you from the plane to the building. A security person will be at the gate to let you through.

The officials in the building will ask you the same questions as when you departed. If you get searched by a drug officer you will be asked to bring your bags into the back room. This room is an over-glorified closet packed with boxes and is barely large enough for two people so don't be alarmed. Taxis will be waiting in front of the building to take you wherever. Keep your bags in sight while you go into the building to register with the officials. Once you have registered you can leave the airport.
