My Home!
I came to the US at 16 years old and knew everything!.. the base (Now Base Aerienne 105) - was my favorite hangout! I knew most of not all the knoocks and crannies! and loved to see the old C-130 (many I ended flying with!) and its all great!.. I remember the old C-119 Flying Boxcars! and then the C-130s took over - listening to them running up engines daily!.. its a sound even today I can identity from just listening to it!.. there is no other sound quite like it!.. and you never forget it!..
I remember driving at the age of 13 one of the NCO Club managers Jaguar XKE at well over 140 mph on that runway 23 (near the West End - closest to Fauville South!).. and I never would have believe my friend Michel would ever turn gray!. but he did!.. so I had to slow down!.. LOL!.. Evreux-Fauville Air Base hold a very dear spot in my heart - now and always!. Great info!..
I love and appreciate all of your dedications - you where all far away from home - in a foreign land - with people who where the least friendly of all!.. but I still remember that when I walked to school - one of you would always stop and give me a ride to Netreville School!.. Thank you all!.. for the opportunity to repay in kindness!.. more to come...
