Vanuabalavu Airport
It is an exciting experience and I must admit you don't really realise that you are either going uphill for landing or downhill for takeoff whilst inside the plane. However, watching from the airport a flight coming in is exciting as is the take off as we all hold our breaths for the lift off.
We usually all clap when the aircraft has cleared the runway on takeoff. I found the flight from Auckland to Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki much more hair raising than the Vanuabalavu one.

Landing is always in the uphill direction, with the approach from over the sea. Takeoff is in the downhill direction, and can be very exciting when all one can see through the windscreen is grass and ocean.
