Stolen Camera
My camera was stolen in this airport 5 years ago. I went to the Dominican Republic with my marriage ceremony with 40 family members were in the same plane. unfortunately, I could not see my camera after I got out of airport. I was lucky, too. My insurance company paid for my camera which decreased my frustration. I had decided not to go to the Dominican Republic after this trip but we had a good marriage ceremony. Our 40 family members liked it, too.

Theft From Luggage
I too had the grave misfortune of trusting people. Especially, after such a wonderful vacation in the Dominican and meeting so many wonderful people. They rifled through my suitcase and took my jewelery which was inside clothing. I am thankful that it wasn't expensive stuff. It was sentimental items for sure. You think you could trust your luggage at an airport....apparently I am too trusting of the human race. I have learned my lesson for sure....I just hope it was someone who needed it a whole lot more than me!

Theft At Punta Canada Airport
Just got back from a great vacation in Punta Cana. Checked in a fairly new suitcase and it was not until we got home that I noticed the lock was still intact but the zipper had been forced apart. My camera was taken and the camera case left behind. All the zippered compartments had been opened as well as my make up bag and cosmetics bag. Fortunately I have travel insurance to replace the camera and suitcase. I will be contacting my travel agency tomorrow. Just another reminder not to be too trustworthy!

Carry-on Items
The final security search of your carry-on bags at the gate before getting on plane was ridiculous. All passengers exiting the gate to the aircraft must submit to a physical search of person and carry-on items. This last search, done after two x-ray scans of your baggage and carry-on items and previous walk through of a metal detector. The security people confiscated our umbrella (collapsible Totes Stadium $30.00) and an unopened package of 4 AA batteries. Seems like a good way to grab whatever they want or you can't get on the plane. Be prepared to be treated like cattle in this poorly run airport where the international rules are not followed.

Airport Security Theft
Keep your valuables in your carry on when you leave Punta Cana, that is if you want to keep them. My fault for having faith in people.
