Pafos Airport
I've been there a couple of dozen times now and I've always found it a convenient gateway through which to enter Cyprus.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the systems seem to be efficient. Mind you I don't eat there so I can't comment on the quality of the food. It makes much better sense to eat in Paphos before you go to the airport but, there you go, everyone is different.
Paphos Airport
Once we got to the check - in desk the ground hostess was not only rude to us (because she was tired), the belt for the cases kept braking down and it took us another half hour to get all the cases through. Eventually, we got to the gate and none would give us any information about the delay of our flight, not even the screens were saying the right time. They wouldn't give us any vouchers to get something from the cafeteria and not only that, the food was a days old anyway.
How can you have sandwiches sitting there for over five hours??
Thats just the departures. At the arrivals our case came through exactly two hours after the arrival of the flight. I believe they have too many flights arriving and departing at the same time that it discomforts us the passengers. We have already had a five hour flight we don't want to wait anymore just get to the hotels and get on with our holidays. Also the girls at the baggage claim department weren't very kind neither. What sort of airport is this anyway?
Paphos
On the contrary... I recall 3 shops in total, one tiny kiosk on the pre-check-in side, a well over-priced duty-free shop, and a small book/paper shop. The two food/drink out-lets are horrendously expensive and to be honest, the food is absolute garbage. Check-in during peak times (Wednesday and Saturday) is a nightmare, where passengers are queueing for flights not yet posted as most check-ins are dealing with other flights up to 2 hours before following ones. The average time for baggage collection is an hour as charter planes all seem to arrive at once. Baggage collection hall, departure lounge and gates are all crowded, unventilated and minimally air conditioned.
In all, the experience of passing through Paphos airport rivals that of going through Sheremetyevo 2 (Moscow) and should be avoided if at all possible.
