Please be careful if you are going through Larnica Airport. As there are thieves in the baggage handling department. On the 19th August this year we came home from a very enjoyable holiday to find our luggage had been broken into and 50th Birthday presents taken. The locks had been forced on my son's case and the ones on my partners' had been opened and put back in a different place to where we had fastened them.
We were in Larnica for three hours. We were only in Newcastle for 15 mins from getting off the plane. The reason my partner did not put the items in his hand luggage was because he wasn't sure if the pen would be classed as a threatening sharp item. The items that went missing were a silver Schaeffer's engraved pen, engraved clocks, aftershave, personalised key rings etc. These were not really expensive items so it was not worth making a claim on the insurance. However they were really personal items of great sentimental value.
Silly to think that somewhere someone is walking around with a pen engraved S. Shaw.
If I was anyone traveling to Cyprus I would make sure anything of any value is packed with you in your hand luggage not your case. As there is obviously a thief in the airport handling department. Incidentally no one has come back to me from Thompson or Larnica airport despite several calls.
