Taxi Drivers Cheat
Be careful with the taxi drivers all over Urumqi and especially at the airport. I was there for a week on business and about 75% of the taxi drivers tried to drive "off the meter" and charge me 300% of the actual charge. Learn how to say "Da Bao" which means "meter". If they will not, then get out of the taxi. Be proactive....before you go to visit Urumqi, try and ask what the normal rate should be from the airport to your selected hotel. That was my only real problem in Urumqi.

Very big Domestic terminal and small old International terminal. Many hotels in airport. Many flights to CIS and Russia. You can test national uygyr food near the point.
