Lincang sits atop a higher elevation plateau between mountains, and requires a 30 minute bus ride into the village IF you get to land. Weather is the big factor here and you should expect at least a 2-3 hour delay if the weather is bad in Kunming. It is very common to take off from Kunming and wait for the weather at Lincang to improve. Often the pilot will attempt the approach a few times and then will be forced to return to Kumnming. Overnight delays are common, especially in the rainy season. The airport is very new, and though quaint, isn't any less efficient than the rest of the airports in China. Don't expect much English from the ground staff there, but there are chicken burgers for breakfast if you're desperate. :-)
