It's a small airport but the layout is simple and the staff is pleasant. Went through immigration and customs with nary a bother. The waiting area for departures has some duty free and decent seating. It's a nice airy and open terminal. I was there in July 2007.

I arrived with my fiancee late on the evening of 12th June, as a transit passenger from Shanghai. The transit passengers were ushered through a separate area to collect our baggage. The only problem was that at this late hour, all the baggage trolleys had been chained up.
I left on 26th June, with the lady who had by then become my wife. Unfortunately her Visa to return to the UK was still being processed so we had to part at Shanghai. However, although she was on an internal flight as opposed to my international one, the airline staff were superb in ensuring that we were allocated seats together on the flight.
The airport is clean and tidy and the only surprise was the regiment or so of (Chinese built) Mig fighter jets all covered by tarpaulins sat towards the end of the runway..
