First-rate Airport
A very large airport, but smoothly run. Nowhere, ever, have I found baggage pick-up, customs, immigration control this well-handled. Fast speed transport access to the city center is only RMB25: Only point is it should not cease after 22:50. I have experienced PEK coming in from both overseas (US), next door neighbor (DPRK) and domestic (Xi An); and at all times of day and night. Always been amazed at the efficiency of the place!

Huge Airport
This airport was enlarged for the 2008 Olympic Games. Huge and not easy to find your gate. And security checking line is always long for most of the time. Three terminals and there are buses for transportation every 15 minutes. The food is not so good and overpriced. Far way from the town but there's subway direct to airport.

Beijing Airport
I was in Beijing November 2007 and was clearly surprised how big and truly modern airport it was! Nothing was reminding about communism or what so ever. Thought it was very nice and well time spending while waiting for your flight. I think they had some weird rule about tax-free shopping, I can't remember exactly. Interesting airport and it's gigantic compared to our airport here in Stockholm.

PEK
The airport was usable. The customs lines are lengthy, though it's unlikely that your baggage will be searched or scanned. Many signs are in English so that it's easy to find your way around, and staff members are willing to find another staffer who speaks English to help you if needed. This isn't to say that you can expect singularly helpful service. Expect crowds and lengthy walks. Don't take transport offered to you from inside the airport - walk outside to the taxi queue.

Beijing Airport
Customs is like a prison queue and there is nothing written in English so you have no idea where you are and what you are doing. Staff seem to be lazing around doing nothing. For a country with the Olympics in a year, it was pathetic.
