I believe flying in /out of Chapeco is probably like flying 40 years ago (sorry, I wasn't in this world then). People wait outside along the fence to see the one daily incoming plane (maybe there are two, but usually one gets cancelled. I recommend GOL airlines). The departure hall has 2 or 3 counters, roughly 20 feet away from the entrance. So people usually stand outside to wait to check in. Rental car counters are open about 30 minutes before the flight leaves, with space for one person to wait. It is pretty funny. Planes are pulled by agriculture tractors and of course you walk to the plan. I thought it was simply great, just completely different from most airports I have seen (so far).
