I arrived from Geneva in Terminal A, needing to catch a flight to India. There was NO information on the departure display boards in Terminal A for flights departing from other terminals! It was my first visit to this airport, so I didn't even know from which terminal my flight left. No information desk, no staff around. Only when I got into Terminal B was the flight info. displayed.
I hope it's my last visit to BRU. AMS or CDG are MUCH better.

Nice airport but agree for early am flights, dead airport. However, you need to take your time from one gate or terminal to another. Get there with plenty of time to spare. Going from check-in to gate can take up to 20 minutes at times (longer if security is slow), especially with security, kids and hand luggage. It has walking sidewalks, but it's a LONG walk to the end gates. Terminal A (mainly EU flights) is a very far walk, but some BRU-US flights can be just as long (Terminal B, last gates). They say 2 hrs for Intercontinental and 1 hr for EU flights, but I suggest at least (during peak, x-mas, etc) 1.5hrs for EU flights due to crowds. I have yet to miss a flight, but when I'm cutting it short, the luggage does not make it... Else, it's a fairly nice airport.

Brussels isn't too bad. I was there on a weekday, got in at 6am and left about 2pm, so I had some time to stick around. The baggage claim area was pretty crowded, and the kiosks weren't open very early, but once back inside the terminal, it wasn't crowded. Lots of open space, lots of places to sit, and some convenient places for food and shop. Nothing special, really. Not great, but not too bad either.

For early flight, before 06:30 a.m. the airport is dreadful. Almost everything is closed, except a coffeebar. Kiosks are not open till 06:00.

Departures and arrivals from gate A60 and further to baggage belts or other terminals are a long walk. Not much of a transfer airport. You better take CDG or AMS.

Parking your car is just perfect. Right in front of the airport, no more than a five-minute walk.
